At the heart of my work is creating a safe, non-judgmental, and affirming space where clients feel seen and supported. I believe healing is deeply personal, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. My goal is to collaborate with you in a way that honors your unique identity, values, and goals.

ABOUT ME

Supporting individuals in reconnecting with their identity, finding community, and cultivating healing through culturally attuned, holistic care.

I’m Johana Valentin, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate at Healing Springs Wellness Center. I support young adults and professionals in the Latino/Hispanic communities who are navigating anxiety, stress, depression, and life transitions. My passion for this work is deeply rooted in my own lived experience. As a first-generation Puerto Rican Latina, I have navigated challenges related to cultural identity, isolation, and social belonging. These experiences shape my commitment to creating a therapeutic space where clients feel seen, grounded, and empowered as they reconnect with their identity, values, and inner strength.

I have a special passion for supporting individuals navigating acculturation stress, family expectations, and the weight of being the “strong one” or the cycle breaker in their families. Many of the people I work with are givers, people‑pleasers, and high achievers who have spent years prioritizing others while quietly carrying their own emotional burdens.

I integrate evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). This integrative approach allows us to both understand your story and gently release the emotional weight that may still be held in the body, supporting meaningful and lasting change.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

johana’s Journey into the Mental Health Field

My clinical journey began with an undergraduate focus in Human Services and Addiction Studies, and continued with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Pennsylvania State University. During my time there, I worked as a graduate assistant in the Office of Education and Social Equity, supporting students through culturally responsive mental health education and advocacy.

After graduation, I provided solution-focused, short-term counseling to international college students through a university counseling center. In private practice, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, including those from the LGBTQIA+ and Latino/Hispanic communities who are navigating anxiety, stress, depression, intergenerational trauma, and adjustment-related challenges.

MY APPROACH

What's It Like to Work With Me?

I enjoy working with clients who are curious, self-reflective, and ready to explore their inner world.

My therapeutic approach is holistic, collaborative, and rooted in cultural responsiveness.  I believe healing begins with self‑awareness, understanding how past experiences, cultural narratives, and survival strategies have shaped you, while also recognizing your capacity to choose a new path forward. In our work together, therapy becomes a space to slow down, tune into yourself, and explore what alignment, fulfillment, and balance truly mean for you.

If you’re ready to begin a journey of healing, self-discovery, and reconnection, I’m here to walk alongside you.
