At the heart of my work is creating a safe, non-judgmental, and affirming space where clients feel seen and supported. I believe healing is deeply personal, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. My goal is to collaborate with you in a way that honors your unique identity, values, and goals.
I’m Johana Valentin, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, stress, depression, intergenerational trauma, and life transitions. As a first-generation Puerto Rican therapist, I bring a culturally responsive and holistic lens to my work.
I incorporate evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), to help clients process trauma and move toward healing.
My passion for mental health is rooted in my own lived experience. As a first-generation Puerto Rican woman, I’ve navigated the complexities of cultural identity, isolation, and bullying. These challenges shaped my commitment to supporting individuals who feel lost, unheard, or unsure of their place in the world.
I’m deeply driven to help others discover their identity, connect to community, and rediscover the inner strength needed to live a more grounded and fulfilling life.

My clinical journey began with an undergraduate focus in Human Services and Addiction Studies, and continued with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Pennsylvania State University. During my time there, I worked as a graduate assistant in the Office of Education and Social Equity, supporting students through culturally responsive mental health education and advocacy.
After graduation, I provided solution-focused, short-term counseling to international college students through a university counseling center. In private practice, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, including those from the LGBTQIA+ and Latino/Hispanic communities who are navigating anxiety, stress, depression, intergenerational trauma, and adjustment-related challenges.
I enjoy working with clients who are curious, self-reflective, and ready to explore their inner world. My therapeutic style is holistic, integrating the mental, emotional, and physical aspects of wellness. I draw from evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client-Centered Therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which is particularly effective for trauma.
If you’re ready to begin a journey of healing, self-discovery, and reconnection, I’m here to walk alongside you.
